The race for the 57th GRAMMY Awards nominations is closely coming to an end as we approach the September 30th deadline.
Predictions for Album of the Year have remained steady for the last three months with Beyoncé’s self-titled album still on the lead, closely followed by rocker Jack White for his sophomore solo record Lazaretto.
The new entrant for Record of the Year is Taylor Swift’s latest pop hit “Shake It Off”, that may however flop if the Academy voters dislike Swift’s new image . “Happy” by Pharrell Williams can now be called a lock in this category.
Williams may also score a double nod for Song of the Year as he can contend for both “Happy” and Ed Sheeran’s “Sing”. However, it is Oscar-winning song “Let It Go” from Disney’s blockbuster Frozen the strongest contender.
Sam Smith —the male Adele— is the safest bet for Best New Artist as his closets rivals, Ariana Grande and Australian singer Sia, might be deemed ineligible for this category.
