While we wait for the 2018 #PanAmericanSong contest to kick off. It is time to discover music from the participating countries of the last edition. Today, we take a look at the music from Colombia.

Colombia is a South American country that borders the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, and it is known for its biodiversity. Just like its geography, Colombian music is very diverse and each region has its own form of music. Non-traditional music genres that are popular in Colombia are urban music, pop/rock, and tropical music.

In the 2017 edition of #PanAmericanSong by folk/rock band Morat and the song “Amor con Hielo”. They finished in 12th place.

Discovering music from Chile

#PanAmericanSong

While we wait for the 2018 #PanAmericanSong contest to kick off. It is time to discover music from the participating countries of the last edition. Today, we take a look at the music from Chile.

Chile is located in South America and it is known for its copper mines. As it is with most Latin American countries, traditional Chilean music is the mixture of pre-Columbian and European rhythms. In the 1960s, Chile was home to a movement of protest folk-ish songs known as the “Nueva Canción”. More recent genres popular in Chile are rock, hip-hop and cumbia.

In the 2017 edition of #PanAmericanSong by pop/rock singer/songwriter, Daniel Parraguez with the song “Solo por esta noche” coming in a close second place.

While we wait for the 2018 #PanAmericanSong contest to kick off. It is time to discover music from the participating countries of the last edition. Today, we take a look at the music from Barbados.

Barbados is an in the Caribbean’s Lesser Antilles, located west to the northern Atlantic Ocean. The music of Barbados is influenced by traditional African rhythms and Western pop music. The most popular genres in the island country are calypso, spounge, and jazz.

In the 2017 edition of #PanAmericanSong, Argentina was represented by soca singer, Marvey and the song “Know the Face”.

While we wait for the 2018 #PanAmericanSong contest to kick off. It is time to discover music from the participating countries of the last edition. Today, we take a look at the music from Argentina.

Argentina is located in South America. It is one of the largest countries in the continent with a population of more than 43 million people. Argentina is mostly known for its tango, which is a type of dance with African roots that developed in the poor neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires. However, the Argentine music scene is huge and has produced many internationally known stars in genres like folk, pop, and rock.

In the 2017 edition of #PanAmericanSong, Argentina was represented by pop singer Abel Pintos and his song “Oncemil” (Eleven thousand).
