The rock field is my favourite and the one I have more knowledge of (when it comes to artists and recordings) however it is the hardest to predict. This is mainly because the screening and voting process is constatntly changing. Last year nominees were reviewed by the committee of voting members. The result was that newer bands gathered nominations leaving veterans and chart-toppers behind. This is not the case for the 59th GRAMMYs, however only those with expertise on rock music will be able to vote in this field. At last some of the most important submissions for the 59th GRAMMYs had been leaked giving us a refreshed view on the possible nominations.
And we begin with the pop field packed with the biggest hits of the year, dance club tunes, teen-pop realness and of course Adele. Some of the early contenders such as Coldplay, Paul Simon and the 1975 had been switched to rock whereas Lady Gaga did not submit anything, despite “Perfect Illusion” being eligible.

The Recording Academy has finally announced that the 59th GRAMMY Awards will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2017 and the nominations on December 6th. They also announced major changes in the eligibility, voting procedure, and in three categories.

The 58th GRAMMYs are now history but now it is time to look at the contenders for next year’s edition. Even though it is still too early to make concrete predictions, there are already some candidates. The eligibility period for the 59th Grammy Awards started on October 1st, 2015 meaning we are now into the second quarter. The period ends next September 31st.
It is worth noticing that all of this year’s winners in the general field came from the first quarter of the 2014/15 eligibility period. Could this happen this year? Well, these is what we got so far:
