60th GRAMMY Predictions: Song of the Year

The 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards are just around the corner. Nominations will be announced, earlier than usual, on November 28th. The ceremony will take place in New York on January 28th, 2018.

And while we wait it is time to take a look at the possible nominees, in one of the ‘Big Four’ categories: Song of the Year.

Unlike record of the year, this songwriter’s award is more diverse. It usually features at least two songs that are outside of the mainstream pop realm.

58th GRAMMYs: Odds for Song of the Year

In less than a month the winners of the 58th GRAMMYs will be revealed. It is now time to take a look at the odds for Song of the Year also part of the “big four” categories in the general field.

Song of the Year is the award for the best song and it goes to the songwriter(s) only. There are songwriters’ awards in most of the fields: Rock, R&B, rap, country, American roots, Gospel/Christian music, and visual media (for those made for films, TV, etc…)

58th GRAMMYs: Final predictions for the General Field

The submissions are in and the date for the nominations have been set (December 7), hence it is time to start rounding out the final predictions for the 58th GRAMMY Awards. And today we will be looking at the major contenders for the general field. In the following weeks, I’ll be posting predictions for the mainstream fields.

57th GRAMMYs: Odds for Song of the Year

The race for Song of the Year is tight. Four of the nominated songs are also in the race for Record of the Year. Furthermore, there are three songs (Chandelier, Take Me to Church, and Stay with Me) with winning potential. And as for the other two, everybody is wondering how they got in there.

With the exception of Max Martin and Taylor Swift, all the other nominated songwriters are competing for the very first time in this category.

56th GRAMMYs: Odds for Song of the Year

The Grammy Award for Song of the Year is usually the least ‘mainstream’ of the big four categories. However this year’s line-up turned out to be filled with radio-friendly songs. Most of the nominees are actually first-timers in this category and they all fall in the same genre: Pop (“Same Love” included). No wonder why there is no award for Best Pop Song.

Just like at Album of the Year, there is no clear favourite to win this songwriter’s award. Contenders here are listed in order of likelihood of winning:
